It’s time for the August roundup!
I tried to find the Laurel Oil to make some Aleppo soap, I went to the Syrian area and as I had never been before and would be walking round the street going in and out of shops, I wore my headscarf as I didn’t want to stand out too much. Everyone was really friendly and tried to be helpful, but sadly, no-one was able to help me find the oil, so I think I may have to switch to making Argon oil soap. I’m a bit disappointed as I had some really good ideas – I like to think so anyway, but never mind.

The main theme with papercrafting this month was Everyday Chic. The theme started off with the elegant Curvy Keepsake Boxes
, the moved onto a Birthday card using the same papers which make a perfect gift set. and the theme was finished off with decorated jars.
I also had fun with my 7 day Back to School series on my YouTube channel just to make it that little bit easier for the kids who aren’t really looking forward to heading back to school.
For the soaping side of things, I made a Christmas Cake scented with Christmas Cake fragrance oil. Due to the vanilla 
in the fragrance it meant the soap would discolour to a really nice deep brown which is perfect for the cake.
I made lavender soap scented with Lavender Essential Oil and sprinkled some dried lavender buds on the top. Shea butter and coconut milk were added to give the soap a lovely soft feeling.
I also made Pink Himalayan Salt soap and some soapy cupcakes.
Finally, I made a coffee soap but it went slightly wrong. I forced it to gel by putting it in the oven, but forgot to turn it off so I ended up with a volcano effect. Sadly, I didn’t get chance to take a picture otherwise I would have put it on here. It looked really terrible!! :-)
The decorated wax bags found on klikaklaka.blogspot.com are really stunning decorated and I want to have a go a decorating some like this.
I’m currently trying to come up with a style of packaging for my soaps. I want it to show the different types I make, but also make it look like a brand, so when people see it, they recognise it as my soap. This packaging found on ruffledblog.com looks so elegant and is the type of style I want to go for with my soaps.
These Christmas tags found on scrapmatts.ning.com are so much fun and perfect to finish off your christmas presents.
Coming up in September……………..
I have my first Compound Coffee morning coming up in October so I’ll be preparing items for sale, there will also be plenty of soap wrapping going on as I get my soaps ready for the shop and coffee morning and finally, I’ll be in Texas for a few weeks so will certainly be doing a bit of blogging on that:-)
